Tournament Regulations for Chess Open A, B, and C

1. ELO Rating
The Open A, B, and C tournaments are valid for the standard FIDE ELO rating variation.

2. Punctuality
Any player who arrives at the board more than 60 minutes after the scheduled start time will lose the game by default.

3. Smoking Policy
Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is strictly prohibited. Exceptions are made only for designated smoking areas, if available.

4. Electronic Devices
It is strictly forbidden for all players to bring any electronic devices into the playing hall.

5. Membership Requirements
All players must have a valid 2025 membership card at the start of the first round. For Open A, B, and C tournaments, a competitive membership card is required.

6. Consent for Data and Image Publication
Participation in the tournament implies consent by each player for the publication of personal data (surname, name, category, ELO), results, games played, and images (via photographs or video recordings taken during the tournament) on the ASD Scacchi Valle Aniene website, social media, FSI (Italian Chess Federation) platforms, and the web in general. For minors, explicit consent will be requested from their legal guardians.

7. Acceptance of Regulations
By confirming their registration, each player agrees to the terms outlined in this regulation.

8. Free Registration
Registration is free only for players with an ELO ≥ 2300 as of April 24, 2025.

9. Prize Distribution
Prizes are not cumulative and are to be considered gross of taxes 

10. Award Ceremony
The award ceremony is an integral part of the event. Winners who are not present will forfeit their right to the prize.

HALF-POINT BYE RULES
Each player may request a half-point bye from the tournament director in any round, except for the last two rounds. This can be done only once, as per Article 6.3 of the R.T.F., provided the conditions specified in the article are met.

WILD CARDS
Upon request, 4 wild cards will be allocated for Open A and B. Requests must be sent to info@scacchianiene.it. Allocation will be based on ELO rating and, secondarily, on the order of receipt. The organization reserves the right to exercise discretion in the allocation process.

PAIRING SYSTEM
The Swiss system will be used for pairings.

TIE-BREAK CRITERIA
The following criteria will be used to determine prize allocations, in order:

• REP (Rating Performance)
• Buchholz Cut 1
• Buchholz Total
• ARO (Average Rating of Opponents)

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
Open A, B, and C — 7 rounds — Time control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.

FINAL PROVISIONS
For any matters not covered in this regulation, the R.T.F. (Tournament Rules) and the FIDE Laws of Chess will apply, with the final and binding decision resting with the arbiter.
